Research Excellence Award

To apply for the REA Research Excellence Award, your application must include the following information.

Name

Major department(s) (if more than one major, which one is considered the principal major)

Class in AY 2024/25 (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior)

Research experiences - for each research experience conducted while enrolled at Rice (including research conducted during the summers and those conducted off-campus) that you wish to be considered in the review process, please provide:

(1)   A brief description of research, targeting non-specialists (don’t assume reviewers are familiar with the area)

(2)   Faculty advisor(s) and other mentors, if any

(3)   Your specific contributions to the research.  Be brief.  In the case of research projects involving a team, let us know how your work benefitted the overall research objectives of the project.

(4)   Has the research been published, or is publication pending?  If so, provide a citation.  If it has been submitted for presentation at a conference, provide details, including whether or not it has been accepted.

Which one of the above research experiences do you consider to be most noteworthy, and why?  How will the research advance scientific understanding in the area, lead to new or improved technology, and/or benefit society in significant ways?  How has conducting the research benefitted you?  Has it shaped your career aspirations?  Do you plan to conduct further research in this area?

Also include a 1-2 page curriculum vitae.
